“Was not their mistake once more bred of the life of slavery that they had been living?—a life which was always looking upon everything, except mankind, animate and inanimate—‘nature,’ as people used to call it—as one thing, and mankind as another, it was natural to people thinking in this way, that they should try to make ‘nature’ their slave, since they thought ‘nature’ was something outside them” — William Morris

Before the Law (Wolfe)

I saw it at MLA--Cary's editor Alan Thomas showed me. It looks amazing. Strangely enough we had exactly the same idea about how to put our next books together, because Dark Ecology is almost identical in size and layout.

Before the Law is about biopolitics and animals. It really does supply a missing piece to biopolitics, a piece that makes me want to reconsider it all over again.
